John William McDonald, 86 year old Yreka resident, passed away at Madrone Hospice in Yreka on February 17, 2013 after a short illness.

Bill was born in Toronto, Ohio on June 10, 1926. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for McKessan Liquid as a salesman. He also sold real estate and was a tax preparer.

Bill leaves behind his best friend, Donna Clair; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Anita McDonald; a second son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Colleen McDonald; his grandchildren, Matthew and Kristen McDonald, Sara McDonald and Michelle McDonald Anderson; a great grandson, Zachary Anderson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill enjoyed an occasional Corona, cigar and volunteering at Madrone Hospice. He will be remembered for his generous heart and quiet spirit.

A memorial service for Bill will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Girdner Funeral Chapel in Yreka. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Madrone Hospice, 255 Collier Circle, Yreka, CA 96097.
