Geraldine Zanni, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 27, 2013 at her home in McCloud. She was born on August 15, 1921 in Newcastle, CA to Pietro and Giaconda Batti, the eighth of eleven children. Geraldine grew up in Lincoln, CA.

Geraldine marred Guido Zanni of McCloud, where they made their home and raised three children: Frances, Sheila and Raymond. She was a member of the McCloud American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time in the forest, mushroom hunting, fishing, walking, feeding her family wonderful Italian food and drinking red wine, and spending time with her loved ones. She will forever be in our hearts and minds.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband Guido, grandson Mark Cottini, sisters, Betty and Dorothy and brothers Raymond, Guido, and Valentino.

Geraldine is survived by her long- time companion Jerry Kelly of McCloud; daughters, Frances Bortolin of McCloud, Sheila Heile Hayes (Jack) of Mt. Shasta; son Raymond Zanni (Laurie) of McCloud; grandchildren Brian Heile (Bonnie), John Heile (Kirby), Ryan Ferry, Heather Zanni, Chelsea Zanni and Tim Zanni; great-grandchildren Gracie Heile, Summer Heile, Caleb Heile and Audri Heile; sisters, Rose McIntosh of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Jiminez of San Jose, Adele Palmer of Elk Grove, Angie Straub of Sacramento and Monica Wharton of Mt. Shasta and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Geraldine’s request, no memorial service will be held. The family will be greeting friends and relatives with a Celebration of Life at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Mercy Hospice at 914 Pine Street, Mt. Shasta, CA 96067.
